Water Adventures Await

While there are no boat launches directly within the property, you can access the water for boating, paddling, and fishing opportunities from the State Road 207 bridge over Deep Creek, just west of the State Road 206 intersection. Alternatively, the creek can also be accessed from the St. Johns River.

Wildlife Watching

Prepare to be amazed by the diverse wildlife in the area. Keep an eye out for great blue herons, double-crested cormorants, anhingas, common egrets, tri-colored herons, boat-tailed grackles, and red-winged blackbirds. Each visit promises a unique glimpse into the vibrant ecosystem of Deep Creek.

Paddle Adventure Overview

Join us on a round-trip (out-and-back) paddle through one of the most scenic and undeveloped side streams in the lower St. Johns River basin. Depending on your chosen outfitter, the total route can vary, but from launch to the mouth of the river and back, it covers approximately 12 miles. Expect to spend between 2 to 6 hours on the water, with most tours offering flexible route options. Be prepared for the possibility of new downfall, as the small stream occasionally requires an adventurous pull-over.

Wildlife Encounters

As you paddle through densely shaded river forests, you’ll often be accompanied by the sounds of woodpeckers, barred owls, and songbirds. Look out for playful river otters and, as you approach the St. Johns River, an array of wading birds, including great blue and little blue herons, snowy and great egrets, and the occasional night heron. Keep your eyes peeled for alligators, a common sight on Florida rivers.
